Top 9 Best Muay Thai Gyms

in Thailand for Foreigners (By City)

With this enormous selection of Muay Thai Gyms in Thailand, it can be very difficult to make the right decision. I’ve had the same experience – I’ve been training in Thailand more times than I can count for the last few years.

That’s why I’ve put together the best gyms in the most popular travel destinations for you. No matter if you want to travel to the tropics in the south, to lively Bangkok and the big neighbouring cities in the centre or to the refreshing mountains in the north.

Due to the number of gyms, it’s hard to say which is exactly the best.

To find a suitable gym in a foreign country can be also a daunting experience. Language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliar equipment can make going to the gym a challenge.

That’s why choosing a foreigner-friendly gym can make a big difference.

Examples of the advantages of choosing a foreigner-friendly gym:

  • Language Support: All information and classes are in English
  • Supportive Staff: They’re friendly for all levels (whether you’re a beginner or a pro)
  • Friendly Community: The majority of students are other foreigners
  • Convenient Location: They’re often located at popular destinations
  • Affordable Membership Fees: Flexible Payment Plans

TIP: All the gyms I have listed offer at least two group classes per day (except Sundays). One in the morning and one in the afternoon. They also offer private classes. The prices are also quite similar overall.

Best Muay Thai Gyms in Northern Thailand

Nord Thailand offers a refreshing alternative to the bustling cities and tourist hotspots of southern Thailand. The region is less crowded and more affordable than other parts of the country, making it a popular choice for backpackers and budget travelers.

Tip: Nord Thailand hosts many colorful and vibrant festivals throughout the year, including the famous Burning Season that takes place in the northern part of the region. The Burning Season, also known as the smoky season, occurs from February to April, when farmers in the region burn their fields to prepare for the next crop. This practice leads to a thick haze that blankets the region, making it an atmospheric but also a potentially hazardous time to visit.
